Matt All set up. Love it. Very different feel. I’ll watch some videos. I feel like the “unit” travels less than I expected but I think that’s just a matter of getting used to it. It’s ridiculously way cooler and feels even better than a Concept 2- why isn’t this the defecto rower of rowing clubs, schools, etc? Let you know more as I use it Thanks so much Doug
Sorry, no reviews match your current selections
The Oartec DX is invaluable for rowers who want to train indoors while maintaining the drive and swing of rowing on the water. If you need to log a lot of meters or are erging daily, it’s far kinder to your back. As a masters rower training for long-distance coastal races and sprint/head racing, I’d basically given up regularly erging off-season on a static machine due to back issues; I can now row regularly on the Oartec through the winter.
Great machine
Hi, Matt. Thanks for writing. While I was rowing today, I was planning my next e-mail to you. My birthday is Saturday. That means I have had my DX for a year! Since then, I have rowed nearly every day. When I got the erg, I weighed 222 lbs. I took enough pain medicine to choke a horse. Today, I weighed 203; I am off the Fentanyl patches completely; I take 90 mg a day of OxyContin, down from 760. I should be off all pain medicine by the end of the summer (I titrate down every two weeks). I am stronger, leaner, more Lucent, happier, healthier, and far more proud. For the rest of my life, I will credit the DX. It has enriched my life in every way. I absolutely adore it! I can’t thank you enough

I have had the Oartec for six months now and I absolutely love it. I considered the Concept 2 and the Rowperfect but didn’t choose the former because of the research on how bad static machines are for your body and the latter is a great machine but they can be temperamental and are too expensive. I describe the Oartec to people by saying it is a Rowperfect with even better quality build than the Concept 2. I have rowed for 30 years and wanted a machine that would complement my sculling. It gives me the chance to do some rowing when I don’t want to sacrifice time with my family to get to the river. I keep it in my garage and for the money I spent I can see this being a great investment in my health for many years to come. I have spoken several times to the owner of Oartec (Matt) and he as been super responsive to questions and requests for Firmware updates on the software so I can gather as much data as possible on my training. Given how much better quality this is than the opposition and how much better dynamic ergos are for your back I think the extra money is an absolute no brainer. I would encourage anyone considering buying an ergo to think very carefully about how many years they are investing in and how much more enjoyable it is to row on a dynamic machine.
I waited for six weeks to give you a report on the Oartec DX. We both think it is a fantastic machine. Very smooth and precise. Solidly made. I am currently at age 74 and only able to do 5,500 in 30minutes but my wife does 8000 in 30 minutes. Most important, is that I can row without putting too much stress on my lower back. This machine up to now has outperformed any of its competitors in all respects…….Bill & Kathy Gfeller, Coromandel, NZ
